Skyrim Mod Lets Players Carry Cats Across the Map
A new Skyrim Special Edition mod allows players to pick up cats, carry them in their arms, and explore the game's open world while holding their furry companions.
The mod, called Cat Carry, was created by W1terr and released on Nexus Mods on October 15, 2026, bringing a small but charming interaction inspired by Crimson Desert.
According to the official Cat Carry mod page, players can approach a house cat and hold the E key to trigger an animation in which their character kneels and gently lifts the animal.
Once the cat is picked up, players can walk around Skyrim, open doors, and continue exploring without immediately putting it down.
Holding the interaction key again allows the character to place the cat back on the ground.
The mod also includes adjustable settings for positioning the character's hands and the animals being carried.
An update released on October 16 expanded the feature beyond cats, introducing support for chickens, rabbits, foxes, and dogs.
Players can even speak to other characters while carrying their pets, adding another layer of interaction to the experience.
Cat Carry requires Skyrim Script Extender, Address Library for SKSE Plugins, and the House Cats mod by Mihail. It also offers compatibility with other supported animal models.
The project demonstrates how Skyrim's modding community continues to introduce new gameplay interactions nearly 15 years after the original game's release.
Although the feature does not fundamentally change combat or exploration, it offers another way for players to interact with Skyrim's wildlife and pets.
Cat Carry is available for Skyrim Special Edition through Nexus Mods as an unofficial community modification.
