Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Players Criticize Sega Over Paid Season Pass 2 DLC
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is facing criticism from some players following Sega's introduction of a second paid Season Pass, raising questions about what was originally included in the game's Digital Deluxe Edition.
The controversy centers on buyers who believed their more expensive edition would provide access to future downloadable content without additional purchases.
Sega officially announced the Season Pass 2 lineup on October 10, 2026, introducing new collaborations with Godzilla, Evangelion, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and other franchises.
However, players who purchased the original Digital Deluxe Edition, which included the first Season Pass, must purchase Season Pass 2 separately to access its paid content.
The second pass is currently listed for $29.99 on Xbox, despite the original Deluxe Edition having been sold for approximately $90 in the United States.
According to Game Rant, some fans have questioned Sega's earlier marketing language, arguing that it created expectations of access to future paid expansions.
Sega's original product information described the Deluxe Edition as including a Season Pass featuring crossover characters, courses, and vehicles. However, the official materials reviewed do not establish that every future Season Pass was included.
The new DLC roadmap includes Godzilla content scheduled for November 2026, Evangelion in January 2027, and additional collaborations planned throughout 2027.
While the second Season Pass has been officially announced, the dispute over Sega's earlier promises remains a matter of player interpretation rather than a confirmed breach of the purchase agreement.
Sega has not been confirmed to have announced any compensation or free access to Season Pass 2 for original Deluxe Edition owners.
