STALKER 2 Update 2.1 Adds A-Life Range and Fast Travel
GSC Game World has released S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Update 2.1, titled The Zone Lookout, introducing longer NPC visibility distances, new fast travel options, and extensive gameplay fixes.
The free update arrived on October 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Despite some misleading headlines, there is no PlayStation 4 version of the game.
The biggest addition gives players direct control over how far A-Life characters remain visible in the Zone.
According to the official GSC Game World announcement, players can select different visualization presets, including a Dynamic option that automatically adjusts the range to their hardware.
The developer recommends the default setting for stability. Increasing the distance can make distant encounters more visible but may reduce performance, particularly on less powerful systems.
These settings primarily affect A-Life NPCs rather than scripted quest characters. The available presets can also differ between platforms.
Update 2.1 additionally changes long-distance combat behavior, including weapon ballistics and how far away gunfights can be heard. Binoculars have been adjusted to work with the increased visibility range.
Fast travel is now available through friendly or neutral squad leaders, who can transport players to previously discovered destinations along their routes.
The service costs in-game currency, requires players to avoid carrying excessive weight, and cannot be used to reach arbitrary locations across the map.
Beyond these additions, the patch addresses NPC spawning, mission progression, anomalies, visual defects, and several PlayStation 5-specific quest issues.
The Zone Lookout is available now as a free update for existing players.
