StarCraft II Remastered Reportedly in Development at Blizzard

Blizzard Entertainment may be developing StarCraft II Remastered, according to new insider claims suggesting that a larger development team has been assigned to the popular real-time strategy game.

The rumors emerged on October 21, 2026, after a screenshot of an internal Blizzard email circulated online, apparently referencing an unannounced version titled StarCraft II Remastered.

Ahmad “SCHistorian” Ali, a StarCraft community content creator, subsequently shared information attributed to a source familiar with the company's development plans.

According to Ali's original statement on X, a larger team has reportedly been allocated to StarCraft II, with a significant announcement or release potentially planned for 2027.

Ali suggested that the project could involve a new expansion, although he considers a remastered version of StarCraft II the more likely possibility.

He later indicated that a second source had contacted him with information suggesting that a remaster was plausible.

However, neither source has provided publicly verifiable development documents or confirmed technical details.

The leaked email has also attracted skepticism from the StarCraft community.

Some players believe the reference to StarCraft II Remastered could simply be a formatting or naming error in a notification concerning the end of Windows 7 and Windows 8 support.

Blizzard previously released StarCraft: Remastered in 2017, updating the original strategy game with improved visuals while preserving its classic gameplay.

A similar treatment for StarCraft II could introduce graphical improvements and modern compatibility features, although no such enhancements have been officially announced.

Blizzard has not confirmed the existence of StarCraft II Remastered, and the rumored 2027 timeframe remains unverified.
