Super Paper Mario PC Port Released With 4K and 120 FPS Support

Super Paper Mario has received an unofficial native PC port, allowing players to experience Nintendo's 2007 Wii-exclusive adventure on modern computers with support for 4K resolution, widescreen displays, and up to 120 FPS through frame interpolation.

The fan-made project, called New Super Paper Bros., was developed by JosiahG using static recompilation technology that converts the original Wii game's PowerPC code into C++.

Unlike traditional Wii emulation, the project runs Super Paper Mario as a native application on Windows and Linux.

According to the developer's official GitHub repository, the port supports resolutions up to 4K, with borderless 1080p enabled by default.

Players can choose between the original 4:3 aspect ratio, standard 16:9 widescreen, and cinematic 2.39:1 presentation. The port also includes improved music and HD textures based on existing community modifications.

Another major feature is 120 FPS frame interpolation, which provides smoother visual presentation without requiring the original game logic to run at 120 FPS.

The project supports keyboard and mouse controls, including mouse-based Wii Remote pointer functionality. Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo controllers are also supported, with customizable button mappings.

Additional features include a built-in mod manager and the ability to import existing save files from a Wii console or the Dolphin emulator.

Super Paper Mario originally launched for Nintendo Wii in 2007, combining traditional platforming with role-playing elements. Its story follows Mario and his allies as they collect Pure Hearts to prevent Count Bleck from destroying the universe.

The unofficial PC port does not include Nintendo's original game files. Players must provide their own compatible Super Paper Mario disc image to install and run the game.

The project is available through GitHub and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.
