Super Smash Bros. Wii U Gets Native PC Port With 8 Players
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has received an unofficial native Windows port through static recompilation, bringing Nintendo's 2014 fighting game to PC with eight-player local battles, online multiplayer, and enhanced graphics.
Developer josiahg2502-glitch released Smash4PC v0.1.0 on October 25, 2026. The project supports the original US release and update v304, including additional fighters, stages, and separately owned DLC.
According to the official Smash4PC GitHub repository, the port translates the Wii U game's PowerPC code into C++ ahead of execution, producing native x86-64 code for Windows. Replacement Wii U system libraries handle console-specific functions, while graphics commands and shaders are translated to Vulkan.
The project builds on Petexy's cafe-recomp technology and incorporates networking components from Cemu. Unlike conventional emulation, the game's CPU instructions are not interpreted during gameplay.
Smash4PC supports native rendering resolutions up to 4K and 5K, alongside 60 FPS, 120 FPS, and uncapped display options. However, frame rates above 60 use interpolation, while the underlying game logic continues running at 60 FPS.
Local multiplayer supports up to eight players using Xbox-compatible controllers, PlayStation controllers, Switch Pro controllers, and other SDL-compatible devices. Online matches are supported through Pretendo Network, although additional authentication requirements apply.
The port also supports Sm4shExplorer modifications, SDCafiine content mods, Cemu graphics packs, and original DLC.
Smash4PC requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Vulkan 1.3-compatible GPU, and legally obtained files from the US Wii U release. Version 0.1.0 remains an early release, with broader compatibility and performance yet to be independently established. The project is not affiliated with Nintendo.
