Switch 2 Jailbreak Bootstrapper Raises Security Concerns

A GitHub project named Switch 2 Jailbreak Bootstrapper is advertising a USB-C-based jailbreak utility for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles running firmware 23.0.1. However, its claims of one-click custom firmware activation remain unverified.

Published under the Switch-Homebrew-Lab account, the repository describes a PowerShell-based tool that supposedly delivers a jailbreak payload through a USB-C connection.

Its documentation claims the utility can bypass firmware signature checks, create NAND backups, and activate custom firmware without requiring a traditional executable.

The project's GitHub repository instead directs users toward instructions involving a remotely hosted PowerShell script.

That approach raises security concerns because executing code retrieved from an external server can expose a computer to risks unrelated to console modification. The repository's assurances about antivirus warnings and detection avoidance are not independently substantiated.

The claims also conflict with the documented capabilities of ns2jb, a separate Switch 2 exploit developed by security researcher Sammy Hajhamid.

Although ns2jb demonstrated native code execution on firmware 23.0.1, it remains a tethered research project without kernel access, persistent jailbreak functionality, or a complete custom firmware environment.

There is currently no verified evidence that Switch 2 Jailbreak Bootstrapper provides the capabilities advertised in its documentation.

The repository's existence should therefore not be interpreted as confirmation of a working USB-C custom firmware installer. Users should avoid executing unverified remote scripts or treating unsupported security claims as established facts.
