Tekken Tag 2 Ultimate Edition Adds Reina From Tekken 8

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is receiving an ambitious unofficial PC revival through Tekken Tag 2 Ultimate Edition, a native Linux port that can add Reina from Tekken 8 to the classic fighting game's roster.

Developed by Petexy, the project is based on the Wii U edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and uses static recompilation to translate the original PowerPC game code into native x86-64 instructions.

According to the developer's official GitHub repository, the Ultimate Launcher includes character-importing tools for Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, with Reina available as a separate addition.

A gameplay demonstration featuring Reina also appeared on Reddit on October 26, showing the character fighting inside Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

The project supports additional Tekken 7 fighters, including Kazumi Mishima, Akuma, Geese Howard, Noctis, and Leroy Smith. Imported characters receive their own roster slots rather than replacing existing fighters.

Beyond character support, the port offers resolutions up to four times the original 720p output and optional 120 FPS presentation through frame interpolation. The underlying fighting mechanics continue operating at 60Hz.

Arcade Mode, Versus matches, audio, controller input, and save functionality are already implemented.

Despite references to Windows circulating online, Tekken Tag 2 Ultimate Edition currently targets Linux. Windows support remains planned rather than available.

The project is unofficial and unaffiliated with Bandai Namco. It distributes no copyrighted game assets and requires legally obtained copies of the relevant games for its port and character-importing features.
