THE FINALS PRIME TIME Update Overhauls Destruction Physics
Embark Studios has released a major update for THE FINALS, introducing a redesigned destruction system, improved environmental physics, and new gameplay features as part of the PRIME TIME season.
The update launched on October 20, 2026, bringing the biggest changes to the free-to-play shooter's destruction mechanics since its original release.
According to the official PRIME TIME patch notes, buildings can now bend, sag, and partially collapse instead of breaking apart immediately. This allows damaged structures to create different paths and combat situations during matches.
The new Blast Waves system also changes how explosions interact with the environment. Walls can deform, trees can break, and debris can move across the battlefield, potentially triggering additional destruction.
Suspended platforms now react to physical forces and swing when damaged, while improved debris piles and dynamic smoke add more environmental interactions.
Alongside these technical improvements, PRIME TIME introduces the Infiltrator playstyle for Light contestants, featuring the True Sight specialization, Mimic Device, and Translocator gadget.
A new Solo Showdown mode allows 12 players to compete individually in a tournament format. Monaco, Seoul, and Skyway Stadium have also received visual and gameplay improvements.
The update introduces Dynamic Commentary, allowing the in-game announcer Scotty to react to specific player achievements, alongside redesigned menus and interface customization.
On PC, THE FINALS continues to support NVIDIA DLSS, ray-traced global illumination, and NVIDIA Reflex on compatible hardware. These technologies complement the game's destruction-heavy environments but are not newly introduced features of PRIME TIME.
THE FINALS is available as a free-to-play game on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
