The Last of Us Named Best Game of All Time by Kinda Funny

The Last of Us has claimed first place in Kinda Funny's Top 100 Games of All Time ranking, finishing ahead of Portal 2 and several major Nintendo titles. Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann also responded to the result with a special video message.

The ranking was revealed during Kinda Funny's five-day event, held from October 12 to October 16, 2026, with seven members of the gaming media group contributing their personal lists.

According to Kinda Funny's original ranking finale, the original The Last of Us secured first place with 494 points, finishing 53 points ahead of Portal 2, which received 441 points.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ranked third with 434 points, followed by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in fourth place with 425 points.

The Last of Us was also the only game to appear on the personal lists of all seven participating Kinda Funny members, highlighting its broad support among the voting panel.

Following the announcement, Neil Druckmann appeared in a recorded video message thanking the Naughty Dog developers and PlayStation for their contributions to the original game.

Druckmann also acknowledged Bruce Straley, who served as game director on the original The Last of Us, while Druckmann held the creative director role.

Released in 2013 for PlayStation 3, The Last of Us follows Joel and Ellie through a post-pandemic United States. Its success later led to The Last of Us Part II, a PlayStation 5 remake, and an HBO television adaptation.

The Last of Us Part II also appeared in Kinda Funny's ranking, securing 16th place with 280 points.

The results reflect the personal preferences of Kinda Funny's seven contributors rather than an official industry-wide determination of the greatest video game ever made.
