The Lost World Jurassic Park Arcade Gets Native PC Port
The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Sega's 1997 arcade shooter, has received an unofficial native PC port featuring ray-traced shadows, NVIDIA DLAA, enhanced weather effects, and additional game modes.
Developed by snicolast, the open-source project, called LostWorldNative, uses static recompilation to translate the original Sega Model 3 game's PowerPC instructions into C++ code rather than relying on conventional arcade emulation.
According to the developer's GitHub repository, the port replaces the original arcade graphics hardware with a Vulkan renderer, enabling native 16:9 and 21:9 widescreen output.
Its visual enhancements include ray-traced sun shadows, ambient occlusion, bloom, distance haze, and support for NVIDIA DLAA or MSAA. Optional texture packs and improved interface rendering are also supported.
The developer has introduced dynamic weather effects, including heavy rain, wet surfaces, and lightning during the T-Rex storm sequence. Nighttime stages also feature an updated flashlight system.
LostWorldNative supports high-refresh-rate displays at 120 Hz and 144 Hz or higher, although the original arcade game logic remains tied to its existing timing.
New gameplay options include Boss Fight and Survival modes, alongside achievements and gameplay statistics. Mouse controls, gamepads with gyroscopic aiming, and two-player support using separate mice are also available.
The project currently targets 64-bit Windows systems with Vulkan-compatible graphics hardware.
However, no precompiled Windows executable is distributed. The developer requires users to build the project locally using their own legally obtained Japanese Rev. A arcade game files.
LostWorldNative remains an unofficial community project with no affiliation to Sega or Universal.
