The Witcher 3 DLSS 5 Mod Shows Photorealistic 4K Graphics

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is drawing renewed attention as PC players experiment with NVIDIA DLSS 5, using unofficial modifications to introduce neural rendering into CD Projekt RED's recently released Remastered edition.

A series of demonstrations shared on Reddit shows Geralt and the game's environments with altered lighting, more detailed facial shading, and increasingly photorealistic materials.

In an original r/DLSS demonstration, one player showcased a single-pass DLSS 5 configuration with Path Tracing enabled. The creator reported approximately 40–60 FPS with Frame Generation, although performance varies between hardware configurations.

The results have divided players. Some praised the additional facial detail and lighting, while others criticized changes to Geralt's appearance and the performance demands of neural rendering.

Another community demonstration explored more restrained settings designed to preserve the game's original visual style.

Importantly, The Witcher 3 does not officially support DLSS 5. Its September 2026 Remastered update introduced NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Path Tracing, Ray Reconstruction, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.

DLSS 5 uses a separate AI-powered neural rendering stage to enhance the appearance of lighting and materials. Community modifications can introduce the technology into unsupported games, but visual consistency and performance remain significant concerns.

The experiments have also sparked discussion about The Witcher 4, currently in development at CD Projekt RED. However, these fan-made demonstrations provide no confirmation that the upcoming RPG will use DLSS 5.

For now, the footage illustrates what experimental neural rendering can achieve in an existing game rather than an officially supported graphics upgrade.
