Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition Sales Suspended
Sega and Creative Assembly have announced plans to suspend sales of Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition following widespread criticism from players. The decision comes just two days after the updated strategy game launched on October 13, 2026.
According to an official statement shared on Reddit, the companies acknowledged that the Complete Edition had failed to meet both player expectations and their own quality standards.
The developers confirmed they are working with digital storefronts to remove the updated edition from sale while investigating the reported problems. They also intend to restore the original version of Total War: Shogun 2, which was previously removed from standalone purchase.
Players who already own the Complete Edition will retain access to the game during this process.
The announcement follows a wave of negative Steam reviews criticizing technical performance, persistent gameplay bugs, and visual changes. Some players have also raised concerns about potentially AI-upscaled artwork, although the use of AI in these assets has not been officially confirmed.
As reported by TheSixthAxis, the backlash intensified after the original game was removed from sale ahead of the Complete Edition's release.
Sega and Creative Assembly said they are collaborating with their development partner to identify the causes of the problems and deliver improvements.
The companies are also discussing extended refund periods with storefront operators, although specific arrangements have not yet been confirmed.
No date has been announced for the Complete Edition's return to sale. Further updates are expected once the developers have made progress addressing the reported issues.
