Ubisoft Plans to Close Trials Developer RedLynx

Ubisoft has announced plans to close its Finnish studio RedLynx, best known for developing the Trials series, as the publisher continues restructuring its global development operations.

The proposed closure could affect up to 52 employees in Finland, while a separate workforce reduction at Ubisoft Singapore is expected to impact another 70 positions.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, RedLynx's closure remains subject to local employee consultation procedures, meaning the decision has not yet been finalized.

Ubisoft confirmed that the changes are part of a broader effort to reduce operating costs and reorganize its development teams around future production needs.

The company also emphasized that its Singapore studio will remain operational despite the planned job cuts.

RedLynx joined Ubisoft in 2011 following the success of Trials 2 and Trials HD. The Finnish developer later worked on several entries in the motorcycle-based platforming series, including Trials Evolution, Trials Fusion, and Trials Rising.

In recent years, however, the studio had shifted toward supporting other Ubisoft projects rather than leading the development of new games.

Ubisoft Singapore, meanwhile, is known for its work on naval gameplay in the Assassin's Creed franchise and for leading development of Skull and Bones.

The latest reductions follow several other studio closures and project cancellations as Ubisoft attempts to streamline its worldwide operations.

While the company continues reorganizing its development structure, the proposed closure of RedLynx marks a significant change for the studio behind one of Ubisoft's most recognizable racing franchises.
