Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Returns on PC With LAN Support

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer is being restored on PC through an unofficial fan-developed port, bringing back local network matches years after Sony discontinued the original PlayStation 3 online service.

The developer reports that players can host and join matches directly through the game's multiplayer menu, with six classic competitive modes: Deathmatch, Elimination, Plunder, King of the Hill, Turf War, and Chain Reaction.

The restoration also preserves elements of the original PS3 multiplayer experience, including loadouts, player spawns, the HUD, and loading screens.

Development is connected to the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection PC port on GitHub, maintained by BilalReloaded. The project's October 25 updates introduced groundwork for LAN discovery, while a separate contribution restored multiplayer menus, lobbies, and classic maps.

Unlike a static recompilation, this Windows port runs the PS4 collection's original x86-64 executable code through a compatibility runtime, using Vulkan to translate graphics operations.

The new multiplayer functionality is intended to operate over LAN rather than Sony's discontinued matchmaking infrastructure. However, the developer's reported host-and-join functionality should not be mistaken for independently verified public matchmaking or broad network compatibility.

Naughty Dog officially discontinued Uncharted 2's PS3 multiplayer servers on September 3, 2019. Multiplayer was also absent from the 2015 PS4 remastered collection.

Cooperative gameplay and Uncharted 3 multiplayer restoration remain under development, with no confirmed completion dates.

The project is unofficial, requires legally obtained game files, and is not affiliated with Sony, Naughty Dog, or Bluepoint Games.
