Uncharted 5 Reportedly in Development at Naughty Dog

Uncharted 5 is reportedly in development at Naughty Dog, with new claims suggesting that the PlayStation studio is working on an entirely new adventure rather than a remake of an earlier game.

The information first emerged in a September 30 report from MP1st, citing sources familiar with the project. Video Games Chronicle subsequently reported that its own sources could partially corroborate the claims.

According to the reports, the unannounced game is being directed by Shaun Escayg, who previously worked on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and later returned to Naughty Dog.

The project is reportedly planned as the studio's next major release after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, its upcoming science-fiction adventure for PlayStation 5.

Unlike earlier speculation about a possible remake of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the reported project would introduce a new story within the franchise.

Nathan Drake could also return in some capacity, although his role remains unclear. The reports have not established whether he would be the main playable character or whether the story would focus on a different protagonist.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End concluded Nathan Drake's original adventure in 2016, while Uncharted: The Lost Legacy followed Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross in a standalone story released in 2017.

The latest rumors have also raised questions about Naughty Dog's future development schedule, particularly regarding a potential third installment of The Last of Us.

However, no official production timeline has been announced for either project.

Naughty Dog has publicly confirmed that it is developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but the studio has not announced Uncharted 5.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has likewise provided no confirmation of the rumored sequel, its platforms, release window, or characters.

Until an official announcement is made, Uncharted 5 remains an unconfirmed project despite the reports suggesting that the franchise could return.
