Until Dawn 2015 PC Port Now Playable From Start to Finish
The original Until Dawn (2015) is now playable from beginning to end on Windows through an unofficial native PC port developed by SuperCatElvis. The project reached a major milestone with the release of WIP 0.1.4 on October 25, 2026.
Unlike the official 2024 remake, this project runs the original PlayStation 4 version using its existing x86-64 game code. A custom Vulkan renderer handles graphics, while replacement system libraries translate PlayStation 4 system calls into Windows-compatible operations.
According to the developer's official GitHub repository, the runtime implements 748 PS4 system functions and translates the game's original GPU shaders into SPIR-V. It does not require traditional CPU emulation or static machine-code recompilation.
The latest build improves performance, fixes transparent-looking hair, and expands cutscene skipping. It supports DualShock 4, DualSense, Xbox controllers, keyboard and mouse, alongside functional save files and the original bonus chapter.
A complete playthrough has been achieved on the developer's RTX 3090 Ti system. Performance varies considerably, however, with lighter scenes reaching 60 FPS, demanding sequences running around 35–45 FPS, and the heaviest scenes dropping to approximately 21–25 FPS.
The port currently renders internally at 1080p and requires Windows 10 or 11, a compatible Vulkan 1.3 GPU, and legally obtained original PS4 game files matching CUSA02636 with update 1.03.
WIP 0.1.4 remains experimental. Crashes, graphical glitches, shader compilation pauses, and inconsistent performance persist, while broader hardware compatibility testing continues. The project is not affiliated with Sony or Supermassive Games.
