Used PS5 Pro Prices Have Reached $1,400!

GameStop and third-party sellers on online marketplaces have reportedly increased the asking prices of used PlayStation 5 Pro consoles to as much as $1,400. A listing on GameStop's website shows a pre-owned PS5 Pro priced at $1,399, approximately $500 more than Sony's official retail price.

According to IGN, third-party sellers on Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart have also listed used PS5 Pro consoles at similarly high prices. These listings have appeared amid reports of growing demand for Sony's upgraded console, which saw its official retail price increase from $750 to $900 earlier this year.

One possible reason for the increased demand is the approaching release of GTA 6. Players hoping to experience Rockstar Games' upcoming title with improved performance may be considering the PS5 Pro because of its more powerful hardware.

At the same time, ongoing shortages of electronic components have reportedly made it more difficult for Sony to meet market demand. Limited availability could be contributing to higher prices in the second-hand market, where sellers are asking considerably more than the console's official retail price.

The absence of a PC version of GTA 6 at launch may also be influencing purchasing decisions. Players who want to experience the game immediately will need a compatible console, although the standard PS5 remains an option alongside the PS5 Pro.

However, the prices displayed by third-party sellers do not necessarily reflect what buyers are actually paying. A listing of $1,400 indicates the seller's asking price rather than a confirmed market value.

With some used PS5 Pro consoles being advertised for hundreds of dollars above their official price, buyers may face a difficult decision between paying more for immediate availability or waiting for prices to become more reasonable.
