WARDOGS Will Add Custom Loadouts, But Not Yet
Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer has confirmed that custom loadouts are coming to WARDOGS, but the studio is deliberately delaying the feature to encourage players to experiment with different weapons and equipment.
The announcement follows growing requests from players who want to save their preferred gear combinations instead of manually selecting items before each match.
Responding to the community in a Reddit discussion, Brammer explained that the development team intentionally avoided using saved loadouts during internal testing.
Without preset equipment combinations, developers were encouraged to try different weapons and tools, allowing the studio to test more of the game's content.
Brammer said the same approach is now being applied to players, as Bulkhead wants to collect broader gameplay data before introducing the feature.
He also discussed the game's Rebuy system, which allows players to purchase their previous equipment again after respawning.
During early testing, the Rebuy option was displayed prominently, causing some players to repeatedly purchase the same equipment even when their strategies were unsuccessful.
Bulkhead eventually moved the option to a less noticeable location after observing more positive feedback when players explored alternative equipment.
When custom loadouts arrive, players will be able to unlock them using in-game currency through the game's progression system. Brammer confirmed that players will be able to purchase multiple loadout slots if they choose.
However, Bulkhead has not announced a release date for the feature.
For now, the studio remains focused on encouraging experimentation and collecting the weapon-balancing data needed to improve WARDOGS during Early Access.
