Warhorse's Lord of the Rings RPG May Not Arrive Until 2031
Warhorse Studios' upcoming Lord of the Rings RPG could still be five to six years away from release, according to a new insider report suggesting that the project is approaching full production.
The information comes from Reddit user bertik11, who previously shared details about Kingdom Come: Deliverance before official announcements.
In an original Reddit post, the insider claimed that people involved with the Lord of the Rings project and Middle-earth Enterprises are currently holding meetings in Europe to review development progress.
The meetings may be taking place in Amsterdam or Berlin, although the exact location remains unconfirmed. According to the source, early development work has received positive feedback, potentially allowing the project to enter full production soon.
However, the insider believes the Lord of the Rings RPG could take another five to six years to complete, suggesting a possible release around 2031 or 2032.
Meanwhile, Warhorse's next Kingdom Come project could arrive considerably sooner.
The same source claims that an upcoming Kingdom Come spin-off is already undergoing testing, with development reportedly progressing toward a release in the first half of 2027.
The insider also suggested that the game might arrive earlier than expected, although testing does not necessarily mean development is complete.
Warhorse Studios previously confirmed plans for an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth alongside a new Kingdom Come adventure.
Neither the reported development timeline nor the proposed release window for either project has been officially confirmed. The insider also acknowledged that the information could not be independently verified.
