Xbox Cloud Gaming Reveals Hourly Prices Starting at $3.99
Microsoft has announced new Xbox Cloud Gaming hourly prices, allowing players to purchase cloud streaming time without subscribing to Xbox Game Pass. The new Cloud Playtime system is now being tested by Xbox Insiders ahead of a wider rollout in November 2026.
According to the official Xbox Wire announcement, Microsoft is offering three introductory packages: 10 hours for $3.99, 25 hours for $7.99, and 50 hours for $11.99.
The new payment system provides an alternative to traditional monthly subscriptions, particularly for players who only use cloud gaming occasionally.
Unlike monthly allowances, purchased Cloud Playtime hours remain available until they are used. Microsoft says the packages also include ad-free streaming, shorter waiting times, and high-quality gameplay on supported devices.
However, purchasing streaming hours does not automatically unlock the Xbox Game Pass library. Players without a subscription must have access to eligible cloud-playable games, including supported titles they already own.
The announcement follows Microsoft's decision to introduce monthly cloud gaming limits for Game Pass subscribers beginning in November.
Under the revised system, Game Pass Ultimate includes 15 hours of cloud gaming per month, Premium includes 10 hours, and Essential includes five hours. Additional playtime can be purchased once those allowances are exhausted.
Microsoft is also testing a separate free cloud gaming option supported by advertisements, giving players another way to access compatible games without a monthly subscription.
Cloud Playtime is currently available to eligible Xbox Insiders, with availability and purchasing options varying by market. Microsoft has not confirmed whether the introductory package prices will remain unchanged after the wider launch.
