Xbox Game Pass Now Works on Jailbroken PS5 Consoles

Xbox Game Pass games can now be streamed on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles through an unofficial application called PSBox Cloud Gaming, allowing users to access Microsoft's cloud gaming library on Sony's hardware.

The open-source project was developed by Brazilian programmer RafaelNGP, who released the software on GitHub. It allows users to sign in with their Microsoft accounts, browse supported games, and stream titles directly to a modified PS5.

Unlike native Xbox emulation, PSBox Cloud Gaming relies on Microsoft's cloud servers to run games. The PlayStation 5 receives the video stream and sends controller inputs over the internet.

According to the project's documentation, the application supports streaming at up to 1080p and 60 frames per second. It can also upscale the image to 4K using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K, although this does not provide native 4K cloud streaming.

The software includes DualSense controller support, vibration feedback, adaptive triggers, and compatibility with up to four controllers. Xbox Remote Play is also supported, allowing users to stream games from their own Xbox consoles.

In a Reddit announcement published on October 16, the developer confirmed that version 1.0.0 introduces keyboard and mouse support, customizable button mapping, and motion-based aiming using the DualSense's gyroscope.

However, the application requires a jailbroken PS5 capable of running homebrew software. Users also need a Microsoft account with access to supported cloud gaming titles, while streaming performance depends on their internet connection.

PSBox Cloud Gaming is not affiliated with Sony or Microsoft, and the developer warns that future changes to Microsoft's services could affect its functionality.
