Xbox October 2026 Update Adds Mythic Achievements and 1440p

Microsoft has started rolling out its October 2026 Xbox console update, introducing Mythic Achievements, improved Remote Play streaming and additional customization options for Xbox Series X|S owners.

Released on October 28 as system version 10.0.26100.9647, the update makes several features previously tested through the Xbox Insider program available through the public release.

One of the main additions is Mythic Achievements, which recognize players who complete every original achievement in a game. Achievements introduced through downloadable content or later updates are excluded, and eligible games completed previously, including Xbox 360 titles, can receive Mythic status retroactively.

Microsoft previously detailed the system in its official Xbox Wire announcement.

Xbox Remote Play now supports streaming at up to 1440p with increased video bitrates on compatible devices. The improvement applies to streaming from an Xbox Series X|S console and should not be confused with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Players can also select startup animations from different Xbox generations, customize profile badges, search game libraries more easily and remove recently used applications from the Home screen.

Additional storage controls allow unused local game saves to be reviewed and deleted. Xbox Cloud Gaming titles now appear in the games library, while downloads can continue during cloud streaming when network conditions permit.

The update also addresses black screens during startup, unexpected download interruptions and repeated Home screen refreshing, alongside stability improvements for large game libraries.

Availability may vary during the rollout, and the maximum Remote Play resolution depends on device compatibility and network conditions.
