Xbox Tests New Gaming Streak Feature on Dashboard
Microsoft is testing a new Xbox dashboard feature that tracks how consistently players use their consoles, potentially introducing a more visible way to monitor gaming activity.
The feature, currently appearing for some Xbox Insider users, displays a numerical streak counter designed to highlight regular play sessions.
According to GameSpot, Game File journalist Stephen Totilo spotted the counter while exploring the Xbox interface.
The system reportedly tracks gaming activity across the week, with players needing to remain active on at least three days to maintain their streak.
Similar engagement features have previously appeared in Microsoft's Xbox mobile app and Game Pass ecosystem, but the new test places the counter more prominently within the console experience.
The feature has also raised questions about whether Microsoft plans to connect gaming streaks to its Rewards program, which allows users to earn points toward digital purchases and other benefits.
However, no official connection between the streak counter and Microsoft Rewards has been confirmed.
The idea resembles daily activity systems commonly found in mobile games, where consecutive participation is encouraged through visible progress indicators.
Separately, Microsoft is reportedly exploring Mythic Achievements, a potential achievement system that could recognize players for completing every achievement in a game, similar to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies.
Both features remain under development, and Microsoft has not confirmed when or whether they will become available to all Xbox users.
