Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake File Size Revealed for Switch 2
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake will require approximately 27GB of storage on Nintendo Switch 2, making it one of the largest mainline Zelda games released for Nintendo's consoles.
The file size recently attracted attention after X user Genki_JPN shared an image of a Japanese download card showing the game's storage requirement.
However, the information is also available on the official Nintendo store page, which lists the estimated download size as 27GB.
That represents a significant increase over the original Nintendo 64 release from 1998, which was distributed on a 32MB cartridge.
The remake is also larger than the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which require approximately 24GB and 20GB, respectively.
Despite the substantial difference compared with the original game, 27GB remains relatively modest by modern gaming standards.
Nintendo has rebuilt Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 with completely overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, and orchestral music.
The remake also introduces modernized controls, including improved camera movement and the ability to jump manually, offering a different experience from the Nintendo 64 version.
According to Nintendo, the game will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
The company notes that the listed storage requirement is an estimate, meaning the final download size could change before release.
