Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Shows New 60 FPS Gameplay

New gameplay footage from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake offers an extended look at Nintendo's upcoming reimagining of the 1998 classic, highlighting improved visuals, smoother combat, and several modern gameplay features.

The remake is being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 and is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026.

As detailed in The Guardian's latest preview, the game preserves the original adventure while introducing substantial improvements to its presentation and controls.

Familiar locations, including Kokiri Forest and Hyrule Field, have been rebuilt with detailed environments, updated character models, and modern lighting effects.

Link can now jump manually, sprint, and control the camera freely using the right analog stick. The remake also introduces faster item management, reducing interruptions during exploration and combat.

Another addition is Threads of Time, a new progression system that helps players track story objectives and determine where to travel next.

Nintendo has also expanded character dialogue, introduced voiced cutscenes, and updated the soundtrack with orchestral arrangements.

The remake features improvements to Hyrule's day-and-night cycle, allowing time to continue passing in areas where it previously remained fixed.

Early gameplay footage suggests a 60 FPS performance target, although technical analysis indicates that the game's internal rendering resolution may be lower than 4K.

With its November launch approaching, Ocarina of Time Remake aims to modernize one of Nintendo's most celebrated adventures while preserving its original story and atmosphere.
