Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Native PC Port Released in Beta
An unofficial native PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has entered public beta, allowing Nintendo's open-world adventure to run on Windows without conventional Switch emulation.
Developed by NotRexed, the project is called SkyboundTOTK and uses static recompilation to translate the game's original ARM64 code into C before compiling it for Windows.
The developer has published the project's source code through the official SkyboundTOTK GitHub repository, describing the current build as experimental, with incomplete compatibility and graphical issues.
The port uses a WebGPU-based rendering system through wgpu-native, which can access native graphics backends such as Vulkan and Direct3D 12. This does not mean the game runs inside a web browser.
SkyboundTOTK includes AMD FSR 1 spatial upscaling, adjustable sharpening, and experimental frame interpolation. The latter generates additional displayed frames without increasing the game's underlying simulation rate and may introduce visual artifacts or input latency.
Other features include keyboard and mouse controls, compatible gamepad support, fullscreen and windowed modes, and an experimental ultrawide option. The developer warns that ultrawide rendering may stretch the image incorrectly.
Shader compilation and frame pacing can also cause stuttering, while a successful launch does not guarantee that the entire campaign is playable.
The current source-only release targets Windows 10 and Windows 11 and supports the original game's base version 1.0.0. It requires legally obtained game files and at least 45GB of additional build storage.
SkyboundTOTK remains an unofficial community project, with no involvement from Nintendo and no confirmed stable release date.
